BENEFITS
ENHANCE REGIONAL COMPETITIVENESS
The project will generate a greater competitiveness in the international golf course market.
With this project, the region will increase the number of golf tourists from North America, Europe, Asia and the rest of the world, and will draw international media attention to announce the environmental benefits achieved and promote the Mexican Caribbean as an ecological golf destination.
ATTRACT MARKET WITH HIGH PURCHASING POWER
The international promotion of the region as an Ecological Golf Destination will attract the increasing market of tourists with high purchasing power that search for destinations which endorse a respectful contact with nature and the regional cultures. The region will be the first golf destination recognized because of its environmental protection initiatives.
REGIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS
The golf courses that adopt the Best Environmental Practices will be able to provide an efficient use of the natural resources in their property, the surrounding areas and the region; guaranteeing the environmental conservation and the protection of the regional biodiversity. This will also lead to an increased synergy between the golf culture and the environment.
ECONOMICAL BENEFITS
The participating golf courses will obtain significant benefits including: a reduction in operation and maintenance costs (water, energy, and environmental), improve their corporative image through the international environmental recognition, which will offer a competitive sales advantage and a greater international advertising scope.
The certified environmental quality of the golf courses in the region, whose combined area represents more than 2,500 Hectares, will obtain the national and international environmental recognition through golf courses that serve as ecological sanctuaries and create a new golf environment for business-owners, players and the overall community.
GLOBAL WARMING
It is important to emphasize that in today’s global environmental situation the project establishes actions and creates benefits that contribute to counteract the Global Warming effect. This is obtained from the environmental enhancements in the golf courses and their operation which reduce carbon emissions significantly.
The Best Environmental Practices encourage the optimization of conservation surfaces in golf courses to absorb greater amounts of CO2, create favorable microclimates, and promote the conservation of the region’s biodiversity and genetic flow.
The use of biodegradable products in the course, the water and energy savings achieved in the facilities, and the protection of the water bodies will allow for the conservation and survival of natural ecosystems and guarantee the continuity of existing resources.
